Conflict transformation and creativity
If you are in the north of England, do come along to the University of Leeds tomorrow. I am going to be ‘in conversation’ with Simon Weatherbed from the NGO Responding to Conflict about “Conflict transformation and creativity”.
We will talk about our shared experience in Kenya last year, and the creative conflict transformation work we saw there. About the imagination that successful peace builders bring to their work – noticing opportunities for bringing people together and turning them into activities that offer new ways of interacting. An enemy becomes someone who shares the new well, or who also keeps goats, or who sells you food in the market.
Similar processes of noticing, interacting, shifting relations happen when I paint.
We will talk about the emotions involved in conflict, in conflict transformation, and in painting.
It should be fun!
