Today at the exhibition

Simon Weatherbed from the NGO Responding to Conflict will join me today at my exhibition.

At 1700 we will engage in a public conversation on “Creating empathy and transforming conflict”. We’ll start with remembering our visit to Maralal in northern Kenya to see the peace-building work of Evans Onyiego and his team in March 2012. That visit showed us how empathy changes as conflict is transformed, and it showed us the creativity involved in leading conflict transformation.

I enjoy finding parallels between conflict transformation and the process of painting. And drawing the attention of our audience to the metaphors in my paintings.

And we will talk about how our experiences in Kenya, and later in Nepal, fed into the new manual Empathy Dynamics in Conflict Transformation (free from iBooks Store and Kobo for your ipads and laptops).

Then we’ll share drinks and nibbles to celebrate the launch of the manual!

Join us if you can, at 5th Base Gallery, Heneage Street, off Brick Lane E1 5LJ.
